With 76% of its membership representing the 125th N. Y. State Assembly District participating in an e-Ballot vote platform this week, State Assembly candidate Beau Harbin won the Cortland County Democratic Committee’s endorsement with over 56% of the vote.  Harbin, a current Cortland County Legislator, is vying with six other candidates for the Democratic Party nomination in a primary election scheduled for June 23rd. If successful, Legislator Harbin will go on to compete against the Republican opponent in the upcoming November election.

“Beau Harbin is an outstanding member of our Committee,” stated Tim Perfetti, Committee Chair,  “helping to elect other Democrats, teaching candidates in our campaign school, and bringing insight and talent to advance the Democratic Party agenda through his seat on the County Legislature, and as that body’s Minority Leader.  Beau will continue to advocate for a results-oriented agenda when elected to the 125th Assembly District seat with a strong constituent centered voice that rural New Yorkers desperately need in these times.”

A Cortland resident for over 12 years, Beau Harbin manages a consulting team and global training operations for an international software company.  Civic activities include two terms as president of his children’s school parent organization, vice-chair of Cortland’s Zoning Board of Appeals, and board seats on Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cortland County and the Cortland County Planning Board.  Currently, Harbin sits as Vice Chair for the Southern Tier 8 Regional Planning Board and is serving his second term as Cortland County Legislator representing District 2.

“I am deeply honored by the endorsement,” said Harbin. “Now more than ever, we need a vocal leader in Albany who knows how to fight for Cortland and Tompkins County.  My record shows this is not a new fight for me, and I will continue to wage it for our workers, our children and all future generations on the economy, healthcare, education and environment.  My type of proven, principled and progressive leadership is what is needed in Albany, and the road to Albany starts in Cortland with the support of the Cortland County Democratic Committee.”
