CORTLAND, NY – May 6, 2024 – The Cortland County Democratic Committee has elected to endorse
candidate Sarah Klee Hood in the Democratic Primary for New York’s 22nd Congressional District to
determine who will take on the incumbent Republican candidate in November’s general election.
Sarah Klee Hood won the endorsement on the first round of balloting undertaken by committee
members of the Cortland County Democratic Committee following a series of interview sessions with all
candidates who were circulating petitions seeking to secure the Democratic Party’s ballot line on June 25th.

Committee members spent an hour with each candidate asking them to share their positions on a range of
issues important to Cortland County, from rural transportation and health care to immigration and

Sarah Klee Hood’s supporters pointed to her commitment on key issues and her dogged efforts a
making grassroots connections in the Cortland area as reasons why she was so easily able to earn the
committee’s endorsement. Cortland County was briefly part of a congressional district that Sarah Klee
Hood ran in for the 2022 election cycle.

Roughly half of Cortland County’s towns are included in New York’s new 22nd Congressional District,
which were finalized earlier this year. The City of Cortland; Towns of Cortlandville, Homer, Scott, Preble,
Truxton and Cuyler; along with the Village of Homer and Village of McGraw now lie within the NY-22
along with all of Onondaga and Madison counties and parts of Oneida and Cayuga counties.
The remainder of Cortland County’s towns are in the new NY-19th , where Democratic candidate Josh
Riley earned the committee’s endorsement unanimously in March.
